About

"I really like to give students a way to have the knowledge... so that you can create for yourself... when you can visualize what it is that you're doing... you can just take off and go with that."

NICE TO MEET YOU

I'm Richard Mederios

Growing up in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in a big Portuguese family, I was always drawn to music. I remember spending hours at the boys' club, where I first got the chance to learn guitar.   We didn't have much, so I had to get creative. My first "guitar" was a broken hockey stick with strings taped to it! It may sound funny, but it taught me to visualize the music, to see the shapes and patterns on the fretboard, even without hearing the sounds. That experience shaped my whole approach to music.

My Story

During my recovery, I started developing a new way of teaching bass based on my own experiences. It's all about simplifying things, breaking them down into easy-to-remember shapes and patterns. I started teaching this method to students and was amazed by their progress. They were learning faster and playing with more confidence than ever before. That's how the RJ Music Vision was born.

Why I Do It

Music is more than just notes and techniques; it's a way to express yourself, to connect with others, and to create something beautiful. That's what I want to share with my students. I want to empower them to find their own voice, to visualize their musical ideas, and to experience the joy of making music. Seeing my students' faces light up when they "get it" is the greatest reward. It's why I do what I do.
